Truck Driver Appreciation Week Takes on Special Significance in 2020

BR Williams Truck Driver Appreciation 2020

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week already carries a special significance for BR Williams, founded as a trucking company in 1958. However, this year, the event took on even greater importance. In 2020, America discovered what we’ve known for decades. The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically demonstrated the crucial role truck drivers have throughout the United States.

“It didn’t take a full week into the COVID-19 shutdown when toilet paper, other food, and needed supplies stopped showing up at retail stores when all of America realized the true value of our professional drivers. Without them, America stops! And when food, supplies, and goods had to be delivered before people’s lives were impacted, it was the road warriors that continued working and delivering in spite of conditions across our nation. We so appreciate our drivers and their courage to keep America moving!” said BR Williams CEO Gregory D. Brown.

With nearly every industry experiencing interruptions in demand or production, our truck drivers worked even more challenging to deliver goods safely, securely, and on time. Almost overnight, our drivers had to reconfigure the way they work entirely. Our warehouses were rearranged to maintain social distancing. Drivers maintain limited contact during deliveries and pick-ups. Equipment and workstations are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Employee and visitor temperatures are monitored continuously.

Through the core themes of honesty, integrity, and service, BR Williams has become a transportation industry leader. Over the past 62 years, we couldn’t have grown our company without our exceptional transportation professionals’ team. Every truck driver treats the freight they’re delivering or receiving like it’s their own, going out of their way to accommodate our customers’ needs.

BR Williams’ leaders showered praise on our 128 drivers:

“This year is different than any other year, for you have faced challenges you would never dream possible. You have handled these obstacles like the professionals you are. I’m extremely proud to work with each of you as you have maintained the service standard we call “The BR Williams Way.” said Kaye Perry, Vice President.

“Thank you to all our wonderful drivers! So much has happened in 2020. But one of the very best things that happened is America came to understand and realize what we have always known: truck drivers are essential. I am so very thankful for each of you and the essential professional job you do every day. Please know what you do each day has a great impact on our company and our country. With my sincere appreciation for each of you!” said Dee Brown, President

Celebrated annually, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week provides the trucking industry a time to formally recognize and demonstrate gratitude for professional truck drivers’ sacrifices and contributions. They transport over 70% of America’s total freight each year. The 3.5 million professional men and women navigating the highways make nearly every aspect of our daily life possible.
